Dear Potential Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in our APA Accredited and APPIC member psychology internship program. In our website materials, we present an overview of our training program: the types of training experiences our interns encounter, the philosophy that guides our training and information about the agency, community, university, and former interns.

We value training highly and consider it to be a cornerstone of an agency committed to maintaining a diverse and dynamic staff.  We strive to provide an internship that combines a rigorous and comprehensive university counseling center training experience with the opportunity to have an excellent quality of life here in this unique and beautiful setting.  Over the years, interns who have graduated from our program have been highly competitive and gone on to secure employment as counseling center postdocs, staff psychologists, academic faculty members, and private practitioners.

Our internship program was first accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) in 1988, and was successfully reaccredited in 1993, 2000, 2005, 2012, and 2019. Our current accreditation cycle runs through 2029. For further information, contact APA Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation, 750 First Street, N.E., Washington, DC 20002-4242; (202) 336-5979.  Or, visit APA's Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation website.  For other APA matters, call (800) 374-3431 or visit APA's main website.

I hope that you find the information on these pages useful in helping you decide if our site would match your training needs. Please contact me via email or phone at (805) 893-4411 if you have any questions about our program.

Sincerely,

Juan R. Riker, Ph.D.
