Once you have scheduled your appointment with CAPS, you will be sent an automated confirmation email (noreply@sa.ucsb.edu).
You can also see your appointment details, including date & time, in your MyHealth Portal.
Please note the location of your appointment as you review the specifics below.
Brief Assessments
Brief Assessments are appointments offered by phone (typically 15-30 minutes) with a CAPS clinician to discuss your concerns, connect you to resources, and create a plan to address your needs. These appointments are necessary to begin services at CAPS.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT (30 minutes prior to your appointment time):
- Login to the MyHealth portal to complete any pending questionnaires
- Click on Appointment tab
- Complete questionnaires associated with your scheduled appointment (the questionnaires take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete)
AT THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- A CAPS clinician will call you to begin your appointment.
- Please note: If the clinician is available and the paperwork is completed, it is possible that you will receive a phone call prior to the appointment time. If you are only free at your scheduled appointment time, please let the front desk know.
All other Appointments
All other appointments at CAPS are offered via Zoom or In-person. Please note the location of your appointment (in your MyHealth portal) as you review the specifics below:
ZOOM Appointments
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT (30 minutes prior to your appointment time):
- Login to the MyHealth portal to Check-in to your appointment and complete any pending questionnaires.
- Click on Appointment tab
- Click on “Check-in”
- Complete questionnaires associated with your scheduled appointment (the questionnaires take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete)
AT THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- Join your session by clicking on the link located within the Appointments tab in the MyHealth Portal. If the link to join the session is not present, please refresh your browser close to the start time of your appointment. In most instances, the link populates once your provider starts your Zoom session.
IN-PERSON Appointments - BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT (30 minutes prior to your appointment time), please arrive at the indicated CAPS location.
Checking-in at the CAPS Main Office, Building 599
- On your personal device, login to myhealth.ucsb.edu and navigate to the appointments section. Underneath your appointment you should see an "Appointment check-in" button that will take you through all of your required paperwork.
- Once you complete your paperwork you will receive your appointment barcode. Scan this barcode at the front desk scanners. If you navigate away from the page, the barcode will be located in the Appointments section of your MyHealth portal.
Checking-in at All other satellite offices - Navigate to myhealth.ucsb.edu on your personal device and complete any required pre-visit paperwork. Check the following sections in the portal:
- Clearances
- Appointments
- Surveys
AT THE TIME OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
- Your CAPS clinician will come and greet you in the waiting area and invite you into their office to begin your session.

- Missed appointment fee: $55
- Late cancellations (cancellations within 24hrs of appt): $25
