Welcome to UCSB CAPS! Choosing to engage in therapy is a courageous decision, and we strive to provide the information you’ll need to make informed and confident decisions. I am a licensed clinical psychologist trained to work with anxiety/stress, depression, traumas, LGBTQ+ issues, substance use/addiction, OCD, self-esteem/efficacy, identity exploration and empowerment, personality disorders, and interpersonal/relationship issues. Much of my training has been in mindfulness-based cognitive and behavioral therapies, though I practice from an integrative perspective and utilize person-centered, feminist and multicultural models as well. I’ve worked on college campuses and in hospitals, dual-diagnosis inpatient clinics, community mental health centers, and in private practice. My approach to therapy is collaborative, whole-person and strengths-based, using the talents and resiliency we already have to access our innate capacity to work through challenges, heal, grow and thrive. My primary goal is to co-create a space that feels safe, exploratory, expanding, and useful in order to achieve successes which are timely and meaningful. Lastly, I consider issues of social justice, power/privilege and diversity and equity as central to my personal philosophy and clinical practice. In the LGBTQ+ Focus position here at CAPS, I strive to serve, advocate for, and celebrate my fellow LGBTQ+ community members however I can. We want you have a great experience while you’re at UCSB, and hope we can help you reach your goals. Looking forward to helping however I can!
