About

Hi, I'm Bryan Howell, a Los Angeles native and former high school English teacher who specialized in trauma informed education. I'm currently a Pepperdine doctoral candidate and an intern at UCSB Counseling and Psychological Services.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, focused on creating a space where students feel seen, supported, and empowered. I practice from a culturally responsive and trauma informed framework, integrating cognitive, acceptance based, and mindfulness based interventions. I particularly find meaning in supporting students with college adjustment, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, and life transitions.

My background working with underserved and marginalized populations, including gender diverse individuals, LGBTQIA+ students, folks from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and students who have traditionally felt excluded from therapeutic spaces, has strengthened my commitment to systems aware, student centered care. I strive to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space for all students.

I recognize that college life can be challenging and that asking for help is an act of strength. In our work together, we will set clear goals, build practical tools for day to day stress, and make time to reflect on identity, values, and relationships. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling more grounded, capable, and connected.

Outside of CAPS, I stay active with my dog, Loba, hiking local trails, enjoying the beach, and practicing hot yoga. I look forward to meeting you.
