CAPS offers short-term, intermittent therapy. Most students who pursue short-term counseling at CAPS see a clinician for 1-4 sessions and meet with them about every 2-3 weeks (sometimes more frequently). Short term counseling is a good option when you have specific concerns that can be addressed in a few sessions. This might be personal concerns such as stress, anxiety, mild to moderate depression, anger, loneliness, relationship concerns, identity concerns, adjustment to college and life transitions.
If you decide to pursue brief therapy at CAPS, your first therapy appointment will be scheduled at the time of your Brief Assessment. Typically, your first therapy appointment will be scheduled within 2 weeks of your Brief Assessment (wait time can be shorter or longer, depending upon demand for CAPS services at that given time).
