About

Hi, I’m Oscar Lau (he/him), a postdoctoral fellow at CAPS. I care deeply about creating a space where students feel seen, supported, and free to bring their full selves into the room. My style is collaborative and flexible—sometimes that looks like building concrete tools, and other times it means slowing down to reflect on identity, relationships, or life transitions.

I have a special focus on supporting students who have historically been underrepresented or marginalized, including, but not limited to, LGBTQIA+, AAPI, and neurodivergent communities. I approach therapy through a culturally responsive and social justice lens, drawing on third-wave CBT and psychodynamic perspectives to meet each student’s unique needs.

As a second-generation gay Taiwanese-Hongkongese man, I bring my own lived experiences of navigating culture, identity, and resilience into the work. I also know that growth can be messy, complicated, and full of restarts—and that doesn’t make it any less meaningful. My hope is that my presence offers affirmation, representation, and a reminder that you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Outside of CAPS, you’ll probably find me singing, creating art, or yapping away.
