CAPS Annex
Thank you for your interest in CAPS, and I feel humbled by the chance to serve the UC Santa Barbara community as a post-doctoral fellow.
As an integrative therapist, I believe in tailoring my approach to address your unique needs. My approach integrates various evidence-based methods (e.g., interpersonal psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, psychodynamic therapy). Together we can address internal emotional conflicts & interpersonal challenges; set treatment goals; and embed coping strategies.
Therapy can also involve exploring the interplay between your emotional experiences and the broader environment, i.e., cultural and geosociopolitical contexts. I am open to addressing your and my positionalities and power dynamics, experiences of marginalization and oppression. I identify as an able-bodied, White, English-speaking, non-religious, ethnic and cultural Ashkenazi Jew, non-indigenous, cisgender gay man.
I enjoy working with issues associated with adjustment, anxiety, bereavement, bipolar depression, major depression, eating disorders, relationships, sexual health, suicidality, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I am interested in exploring the intersection of mental health and the climate crisis (e.g., eco-anxiety and climate distress). I have experience and interest in serving BIPOC, first generation, international, gender diverse, neurodiverse, nontraditional, queer, and QTBIPOC college students.
I hold a PhD in Counseling Psychology and aim to soon be licensed as a health service psychologist. In my free time, I'm likely thrifting, baking bread, riding my bicycle, or walking (i.e. being pulled along by) my dog, Zen.
