Hello! I believe that people have the power to heal themselves. We know what is best for us. However, when life becomes difficult and we start to feel stuck, we may need a little bit of extra support. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe place for you to better understand yourself. I hope to build a safe and healing relationship where we can explore your story without judgment and where you can just be yourself. Within this space, I hope to validate your struggles, as well as identify your strengths, needs, and values so that you can live towards the life that you want.
I am interested in understanding not only your inner experiences, such as your thoughts and feelings, but also how systems and social injustice may have impacted your experience. Understanding how experiences of marginalization and oppression may influence your mental health can be freeing and empowering, as it helps to separate yourself from the internalized shame and oppression that we have been socialized into.
As a first-generation Korean Canadian immigrant, I enjoy working with immigrants, international students, and transfer students. I also enjoy working with first-gen college students and students from historically marginalized communities. I have often addressed topics including cross-cultural concerns (e.g., identity issues, addressing discrimination/microaggressions, adjustment issues), social anxiety, trauma, attachment/relationships, stress/burnout, self-acceptance, and academic concerns/ADHD.
Outside of work, I enjoy dancing (but not in front of others), crocheting, playing cozy games (like stardew valley), and eating good food.
