Welcome to the UCSB counseling center! I love the diversity of our community which is what brought me here. I join with my CAPS colleagues in striving to ensure that every student feels welcome in our center. I strongly believe that the impact of counseling during your college and post-college years may help to make a lasting contribution to your overall academic success and lifelong fulfillment.
My specialties are in treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family dysfunction, and post-college transitions. I also have specialized in these areas: Men and Masculinities, Trauma (all kinds including Racial, Childhood, and Interpersonal), Learning issues (attentional, motivational), Identity Exploration (Intersectional) and Existential (Finding Meaning).
In thinking about how to develop the best version of yourself, you may find inspiration in this quote by psychologist and educator Al Siebert:
“Resiliency is something you do, more than something you have…You become highly resilient by continuously learning your best way of being yourself in your circumstance”.
Thank you for reading my bio!
Peace,
Seth
